  4. I am going south and need to cross the border with my medications. What should I do?

If you're on medication when you travel to the United States, please keep the medication in the original package. If the medication contains narcotics (such as codeine) please have your doctor provide a note (in English) describing the prescription dosage, and the reason for the medication. The note should have a telephone number where the doctor can be reached for verification.
